Base Salary
$173k - $310k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain systems for data ingestion, discoverability, governance, derivation, and serving.
- Develop scalable service endpoints for retrieving data.
- Deliver services from code development through production deployment.
- Design, maintain, and improve sophisticated object-oriented software.
- Operate production services, including logging, monitoring, metrics, production triage, and on-call support.
- Apply testing, feature toggles, and canary deployment practices.
- Collaborate with teammates to deliver data engineering and machine learning platform capabilities.
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, distributed systems, or a related field.
- 6+ years of proficiency in at least two of Java, Scala, and Python.
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields.
- Working knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure and managed services, including AWS or GCP.
- Experience with at least one of Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, Apache Avro, Apache Kafka, or Apache Flink.
- Experience with Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform for production delivery.
- Experience with scalable service endpoints, observability technologies, sophisticated object-oriented software, and production operations.
- Understanding of operating system concepts, performance and scale, security, availability, deployment, and operations.
- Experience with unit, system/integration, and end-to-end testing, TDD, feature toggles, and canary deployments.
Benefits
- Annual base salary ranges are $182,400-$273,600 for the primary Atlanta location and $173,300-$309,600 for additional US locations.
- The role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus and annual refresh stock grants.
- Flexible work requires spending at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field, with remote home-office roles also able to gather in Workday offices.
