
Staff Software Engineer
GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Drive the technical execution and evolution of a Grid Software product for critical power system and utility applications.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software components using C++, Java, and modern software development technologies.
- Contribute to product architecture, technical design decisions, performance, scalability, security, and modernization initiatives.
- Develop complex features, algorithms, and analytical capabilities for advanced grid and power system operations.
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, domain experts, quality engineers, and global engineering teams.
- Champion code reviews, refactoring, automated testing, continuous integration and delivery, and secure software development practices.
- Mentor engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and problem-solving.
- Analyze and resolve complex product, performance, and production issues across the software stack.
- Drive improvements in software quality, development processes, and team productivity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in software development, enterprise application engineering, or software product development.
- Strong hands-on experience with C++, Java, or similar object-oriented programming languages.
- Experience developing and maintaining large-scale, mission-critical software products throughout the full development lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, code quality, refactoring, algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization.
- Experience with full-stack technologies, REST APIs, databases, cloud-native development, and distributed systems.
- Experience working in Linux and Windows development environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, technical problem-solving, collaboration, communication, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Preferred experience with Grid Software, Energy Management Systems, transmission applications, power systems, or utility business processes.
