Base Salary
$158k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build scalable backend systems including high-performance APIs, distributed services, event-driven architectures, and real-time data processing capabilities.
- Develop AI-native capabilities that convert customer signals, product usage, lifecycle events, and business context into personalized experiences, next-best actions, and automated workflows.
- Independently design, implement, deploy, and operate complex backend services and platform components.
- Build secure, observable, highly available services and continuously improve performance, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Partner with Product, Data Science, Marketing, Sales, and engineering teams to solve ambiguous business problems and translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Improve engineering quality through system design, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with substantial experience building and operating production backend systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Kotlin, or a comparable backend language, with solid computer science fundamentals.
- Experience with backend frameworks such as FastAPI or Spring Boot.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, backend architecture, API design, data modeling, event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, scalability, and reliability.
- Ability to independently design and deliver complex backend solutions and own services through implementation and production operations.
- Preferred experience with growth platforms, experimentation systems, customer segmentation, marketing automation, or data-intensive applications.
- Preferred experience with AI-powered applications or agentic workflows, including LLM integration, tool orchestration, evaluation, and production observability.
- Preferred experience with real-time data pipelines, streaming technologies, large-scale event processing, cloud infrastructure, Docker, Kubernetes, and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk.
- Preferred experience designing integrations across product, analytics, CRM, marketing, or enterprise systems, especially in high-growth technology, fintech, payments, or regulated environments.
