Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud and hybrid infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub.
- Architect and manage Docker and containerized cloud environments including Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, and Azure AKS.
- Implement logging, monitoring, alerting, and high-availability systems using tools such as Dynatrace, Elastic, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and ScienceLogic.
- Develop and maintain automated security-scanning and vulnerability-management pipelines.
- Automate provisioning, patching, and version upgrades for cloud databases and containerized applications.
- Manage application configuration, secrets, and certificates.
- Partner with engineering, security, and product teams to promote DevOps practices and mentor junior engineers.
- Prototype, validate, and deploy AI models, Model Context Protocol servers, and proofs of concept.
- Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be a permanent employee in the title or reachable on the applicable civil-service list; the posting is open to city employees only.
- At least a four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent is required.
- At least three years of progressively responsible, full-time, satisfactory IT experience is required.
- At least 18 months of the qualifying experience must be in an administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory capacity.
- Qualifying IT experience may include applications development, systems development, data communications and networking, database administration, data processing, or user services.
- A master's degree in computer science with three years of qualifying experience, a bachelor's degree with four years, a high-school diploma with six years, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify.
- Relevant undergraduate and graduate credits may substitute for portions of the required IT experience, but not for the required 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory experience.
- Experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, containers, monitoring, security automation, databases, and application operations is relevant to the role.
