Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, maintain, and document software applications, tools, services, and automation for internal operations and contract deliverables.
- Write software in languages such as Python, PHP, C++, Java, C#, and JavaScript, including backend services and frontend interfaces.
- Design relational database schemas and write SQL queries; build utilities and scripts for workflow automation and data processing.
- Containerize and deploy applications with Docker to cloud or on-premises environments.
- Apply data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, unit testing, and coding-quality practices to produce reliable, secure, performant solutions.
- Troubleshoot application, server, and network issues across Linux/UNIX and Windows environments.
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, IT operations, and engineers; participate in code reviews, Git-based version control, and Agile/Scrum activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or an anticipated degree by December 2026, from an accredited institution.
- Proficiency in more than one programming language, such as C++, Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, or PHP.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, database design, and SQL, with hands-on relational database experience.
- Familiarity with Git and unit testing, plus strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and quality-management skills.
- Preferred qualifications include full-stack application experience, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, a web or application framework, Linux/UNIX, TCP/IP, sockets, HTTP, Docker, AWS, concurrent programming, data processing, machine learning or natural language processing libraries, .NET, Microsoft scripting, Scrum/Agile, and tutoring or mentoring experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation, including eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Must be able to work with distributed teams, adjust schedules for peak periods when required, sit for extended periods, lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and travel or commute to other installations as needed.
