Base Salary
$192k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Migrate Husky’s storage format to Parquet and redesign compaction on a DataFusion-based, format-agnostic substrate.
- Drive storage cost reductions through inverted-index compression, external object integration, storage tiering, and caching.
- Scale temporal-database techniques to support event versioning at scale.
- Help operate and determine the future operating model for Husky’s distributed service.
- Collaborate across ingestion, metadata, platform, and Lakehouse teams on the write path and Iceberg-based analytical workloads.
- Work with the open source community to build reusable software that operates at scale.
Requirements
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems and/or storage engines.
- Experience improving and operating large distributed systems that support critical customer business functions.
- Strong fundamentals in columnar or file storage formats such as Parquet, ORC, and Arrow, or comparable systems.
- Preferred experience with Go, Java, or Rust; compaction or compression and encoding schemes; object storage such as S3, GCS, or Azure Blob; Kafka and stream processing; or Kubernetes.
