Base Salary
$109k - $203k/yr
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical interface between legal professionals, internal legal subject matter experts, customers, and engineering teams.
- Translate customer requirements into robust, production-ready software solutions and deliver end-to-end technical solutions for legal clients.
- Design, develop, document, demonstrate, and deploy scalable software using Python and secure coding practices.
- Apply DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code, unit testing, and test-driven development while managing technical debt.
- Evaluate AI outputs for legal accuracy, relevance, and reliability and optimize LLM prompts for specialized legal tasks.
- Collaborate with AI engineers and cross-functional legal and product teams on customer solutions.
- Mentor and coach junior software engineers through code reviews, training, and technical guidance.
- Lead routine projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies and present at client workshops or knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Work primarily in a hybrid office arrangement with occasional, rare travel to customer sites.
Requirements
- JD, formal legal training, or equivalent depth of experience in a legal practice environment, with fluency in legal terminology.
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Python and experience building production-grade software.
- Strong understanding of AI/LLM evaluation methodologies and prompt engineering for specialized legal-domain tasks.
- Ability to communicate credibly with lawyers and engineers about technical and legal concepts.
- Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, mentor others, and solve complex problems with minimal guidance.
- Experience with legal platforms or SaaS solutions is preferred.
