Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test systems and plans for UI validation, integration, security, device compatibility, and performance testing.
- Own front-end automation frameworks, CI/CD quality gates, test data strategy, and reusable self-service testing utilities.
- Apply BDD-driven practices for high-value, business-readable scenarios and drive shift-left testing practices.
- Lead QA decisions for front-end automation and collaborate with front-end and development engineers on cohesive end-to-end testing.
- Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and product discussions while advocating for testability and quality.
- Investigate and debug issues, perform root cause analysis, and validate API behavior and event or message flows affecting the UI.
- Research test productivity tools and libraries, recommend improvements, champion QA best practices, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of software test engineering experience, including at least 1 year creating and maintaining UI test automation frameworks.
- Expert UI automation skills with tools such as Playwright or Cypress and strong coding experience in one or more programming languages.
- Ability to write tests using a BDD framework such as Behave and understanding of software engineering fundamentals, design patterns, and best practices.
- CI/CD experience with tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions, Git best practices, and familiarity with AWS and Docker.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, security best practices, and testing tools such as OWASP ZAP and RESTler.
- Analytical and problem-solving ability, independent and collaborative work skills, and experience in Agile/Scrum teams using JIRA and Confluence.
- Proficiency evaluating and using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, and Claude Code.
- Preferred: media and entertainment industry experience, strong Python skills, React/Next.js or Angular/Vue production experience, modern state/data-layer experience, performance testing knowledge, messaging architecture knowledge, and Postman experience.
- Preferred: familiarity with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or NATS and experience validating API behavior and event/message flows affecting user interfaces.
- Ability to define and drive quality strategy, communicate clearly, mentor engineers, understand service boundaries and data flows, and work effectively with ambiguity.
