Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software in Rust, C++, Java, Python, or TypeScript.
- Build services and integrations using MQTT, RabbitMQ, REST APIs, and WebSockets.
- Make architecture and design decisions balancing performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Write unit and integration tests and debug issues across application, operating system, and network layers.
- Design and support communication between software, devices, cloud services, and customer systems.
- Configure firewall rules and network settings and troubleshoot ports, latency, dropped connections, certificates, and TLS issues.
- Package, run, and troubleshoot applications in Docker containers and deploy services in Azure or AWS as needed.
- Set up and maintain GitHub and GitHub Actions build pipelines with automated testing, cybersecurity scans, and static code analysis.
- Debug, triage, and resolve pipeline failures.
- Review designs and code, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and help set technical direction.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, QA, and product teams and document designs, interfaces, and processes.
- Travel domestically and internationally to customer sites, partners, and other AutoStore locations as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5–7 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong programming skills in one or more of Rust, C++, Java, Python, or TypeScript.
- Experience with MQTT, RabbitMQ, REST APIs, or WebSockets.
- Hands-on experience developing and running applications in Docker.
- Understanding of operating system concepts including processes, threads, memory management, file systems, and scheduling.
- Experience with computer networking, TCP/IP, firewalls, port and protocol configuration, NAT, VPNs, and proxies.
- DevOps experience setting up automated build-testing, cybersecurity-scanning, and static-code-analysis pipelines.
- Strong Git skills and experience working in GitHub.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Preferred experience with Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services, GitHub Actions, SonarQube, CodeQL, Snyk, Trivy, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Ansible, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, MLflow, Kubeflow, DVC, or Weights & Biases.
- Preferred exposure to embedded systems, robotics, or industrial automation and understanding of the machine-learning lifecycle.
