Base Salary

$230k - $270k/yr

Responsibilities

Lead web performance across Legend by profiling, diagnosing, and shipping measurable improvements to speed, responsiveness, and runtime efficiency.
Optimize JavaScript execution, browser rendering pipelines, and real-time data handling.
Build and optimize high-frequency real-time UI components for streaming market data without compromising frame rate or user experience.
Establish performance benchmarks and monitoring systems for lasting team standards.
Drive a performance-first culture through code reviews, technical documentation, and engineering standards.
Contribute to end-to-end feature development across core trading surfaces.
Partner with product, design, and backend engineers to deliver reliable experiences at scale.
Participate in roadmap planning and scope technical work while balancing feature delivery and platform health.

7+ years of experience building web applications, including products where performance was a hard requirement.
Deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript, including JavaScript engine internals, memory management, and garbage collection behavior.
Hands-on experience profiling and optimizing browser rendering pipelines, including layout, paint, and compositing.
Experience building and optimizing high-frequency real-time user interfaces that render streaming data while maintaining a consistent frame rate.
Experience with Canvas, Web Workers, WebSockets, or similar technologies is a plus.
Fluency with Chrome DevTools, Performance/Lighthouse, flame charts, Core Web Vitals, or comparable runtime metrics.

In-person work is required at least 3 days per week in the Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY offices.
