Base Salary
$249k - $298k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve Monstro’s frontend architecture across application structure, component architecture, state and data management, navigation, API integration, performance, build tooling, and developer experience.
- Remain hands-on building complex, responsive, accessible, and high-quality product experiences in React.
- Define scalable reusable component systems, theming, configuration, and potentially embeddable or customer-adapted UI patterns.
- Own frontend quality strategy across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, including automated checks, static analysis, observability, and engineering guardrails.
- Lead architectural changes from technical strategy and proofs of concept through consensus, implementation, and adoption.
- Establish AI-assisted development workflows, standards, context, and guardrails using emerging tools.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, documentation, pairing, tooling, and technical leadership.
- Collaborate with product, design, backend, and platform teams on UX decisions, API contracts, system boundaries, and scalable product architecture.
Requirements
- Significant professional frontend engineering experience with demonstrated Staff, Principal, Lead, or equivalent technical scope.
- Deep expertise in React and TypeScript and experience architecting and shipping complex production web applications.
- Experience serving as a frontend technical authority by defining architecture, standards, and practices used by multiple engineers or teams.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development tools and a thoughtful approach to maintaining quality and maintainability.
- Experience improving evolving or inconsistent frontend codebases through scalable architecture, tooling, patterns, and engineering practices.
- Strong experience designing reusable component systems, design systems, or shared frontend infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing and experience establishing automated quality guardrails within CI/CD.
- Strong knowledge of modern CSS, responsive design, performance, and accessibility standards.
- Experience working across frontend and backend boundaries, including API contracts, authentication, state and data management, and system integrations.
- Strong product and UX judgment, communication, mentorship, and ability to influence technical decisions and earn buy-in.
- Ability to operate with ambiguity, high ownership, and significant influence in an early-stage environment.
- Preferred: full-stack and backend/API development experience, including Python.
- Preferred: experience with configurable, themeable, white-label, or embeddable UI/component systems; early-stage or rapidly evolving products; fintech or regulated industries; and AI-native engineering practices.
