Responsibilities
- Set infrastructure architecture direction, including build-versus-buy and vendor decisions.
- Establish on-call practices, SLOs, SLIs, incident response, and postmortem processes while owning uptime and incidents.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment infrastructure across Vercel and AWS.
- Design, provision, and manage AWS infrastructure and establish engineering best practices.
- Own Supabase/PostgreSQL performance tuning, backups, migrations, and scaling.
- Build and maintain Trigger.dev background job and workflow infrastructure.
- Implement logging, monitoring, alerting, and tracing for production observability.
- Harden secrets management, access control, and compliance readiness across the stack.
- Write, ship, and debug application code when product-level fixes are appropriate.
- Mentor engineers and establish the foundation for a lasting platform function.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience running production infrastructure at scale.
- Experience designing infrastructure architecture from the ground up.
- Experience serving as the senior-most infrastructure voice at a scaling startup, setting standards and acting as an escalation point.
- Experience owning PostgreSQL in production at scale.
- Strong software engineering ability, including reading, writing, and debugging application code.
- Experience establishing incident response practices and SLOs/SLIs from scratch.
- A demonstrated bias toward automating operational toil.
- Preferred experience with Vercel or Supabase.
- Preferred experience with Trigger.dev or a similar workflow or queue orchestration tool.
- Preferred experience as a founding or senior-most infrastructure hire at an early-stage startup.
- Preferred experience mentoring engineers or building an infrastructure/platform function.
- Preferred experience in financial services or another regulated, security-sensitive industry.
- Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2.
