- Make and document build, buy, and refactor decisions across the organization.
- Lead cross-team design reviews, establish engineering patterns and standards, and resolve integration problems spanning multiple teams.
- Partner with the Director of Engineering and product leadership to translate business goals into technical strategy and technical constraints into actionable decisions.
- Write code for the hardest parts of the production system and modernize the continuously running platform without disrupting business operations.
- Evaluate and lead adoption of AI, ML, and emerging technologies from experimentation through production.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads while raising standards for design documentation, testing, performance, and correctness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- 9–11 years of software development experience.
- Production software experience with deep expertise on at least one side of the full stack and strong credibility on the other.
- Demonstrated architectural ownership of systems used by multiple teams.
- Strong background in data-intensive, distributed, or high-throughput systems where correctness and performance matter at scale.
- Track record of influencing technical direction without formal authority through designs, prototypes, or technical reviews.
- Ability to work with ambiguity and legacy systems while modernizing continuously running production software.
- Financial services, capital markets, or investment performance and attribution experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with Python, modern JVM languages, Polars, columnar computing, Snowflake, cloud data platforms, Azure, Kubernetes, workflow orchestration, Angular, TypeScript, infrastructure as code, applied AI, or LLM tooling is relevant; Rust is being explored.
Benefits
