Responsibilities
- Design, estimate, and implement technical solutions for medium- and high-complexity applications.
- Analyze, refactor, redesign, and consolidate C applications during a migration from AIX to Red Hat Linux and AWS.
- Participate in all phases of the application development lifecycle and support requirements, architecture, processes, and priorities.
- Use shell scripting and C build, debugging, and core-dump analysis tools for development, build, run, and deployment tasks.
- Review development work, propose improvements, escalate risks, and promote effective engineering practices.
- Own work autonomously, allocate resources, influence teams and stakeholders, and communicate solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support potential long-term BAU, project, and client-integration work on the payments platform.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on software development experience with strong, demonstrable expertise in plain C.
- Strong UNIX experience across AIX and Red Hat Linux, including proven ability to port and refactor applications between them.
- Experience with KornShell/ksh and Bash for build, run, and deployment tasks.
- Proficiency with Make/Makefiles, gcc, gdb, and core-dump analysis.
- Experience refactoring and consolidating applications, including redesign during a migration.
- Ability to work independently, take end-to-end ownership, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred experience includes SQL, DB2, Oracle, embedded SQL, sockets, TCP/IP, IPC, cross-platform porting, payments or financial transaction processing, ISO 8583, PCI DSS, Git, GitHub, SCCS, Harness, Jenkins, AWS, Linux administration, Docker, Terraform, and external client or third-party integrations.
