Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and operate reusable API gateway capabilities, including API proxies, shared flows, policies, target servers, and key-value maps.
  • Build API security controls using OAuth 2.0, mutual TLS, API key validation, and certificate-based authentication.
  • Develop onboarding automation, cloud-native integration patterns, CI/CD pipelines, and lifecycle management for API gateways and related services.
  • Lead strategic migrations, enterprise API onboarding, modernization initiatives, and the creation of architecture standards and reusable platform patterns.
  • Improve platform observability, monitoring, alerting, performance analysis, reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Design and implement AI agents, agentic workflows, automation, and intelligent engineering solutions that improve development or operational processes.
  • Partner with engineering, architecture, security, infrastructure, product, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and resilient solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of hands-on software engineering experience with ownership of platform capabilities and technical delivery.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing, building, and operating API gateway platforms, including Google Apigee or comparable technologies.
  • Strong programming experience with Java, .NET, or Python, including enterprise applications, backend services, microservices, and API integrations.
  • Hands-on Google Apigee experience with API proxies, shared flows, policy configuration, target servers, and key-value maps.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools, automation capabilities, AI agents, agentic workflows, or intelligent engineering solutions.
  • Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines for automated API gateway deployment and lifecycle management.
  • Strong knowledge of networking and security concepts, including TLS/SSL, certificate management, DNS, load balancing, and secure communication patterns.
  • Experience implementing observability and monitoring practices, including dashboards, alerting, and performance analysis.
  • Experience with unit, integration, and contract testing and test-driven development practices.
  • Ability to lead initiatives, manage competing priorities, collaborate with technical and business stakeholders, and drive outcomes with limited supervision.
  • Preferred qualifications include AI-DLC initiatives, multi-agent solutions, regulated-industry API management, large-scale API traffic management, enterprise onboarding, modernization, Akamai, Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, cloud security, distributed systems, developer enablement tools, and platform automation frameworks.
