Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of Yes AI infrastructure, including an MCP server, natural language integration layer, and Semantic Context Layer.
- Provide architectural guidance for structuring and exposing Yes Energy data to AI agents and LLM-powered applications.
- Build real-time services supporting AI-driven customer workflows in collaboration with data engineering, operations, and infrastructure teams.
- Participate in the full product lifecycle, with emphasis on design and strategic planning.
- Mentor Backend Engineer IIs and raise the team’s technical standards.
- Lead technical discussions and partner with engineering leadership on design and planning decisions.
- Collaborate with product, domain experts, and occasional customers to shape solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership.
- Deep expertise in Java and solid Python skills.
- Working knowledge of relational database management systems such as SQL Server.
- Extensive experience developing for and working in cloud environments; Snowflake experience is preferred.
- Extensive experience designing, building, and consuming REST APIs.
- Familiarity with data integration and ETL tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience designing scalable, reliable, and maintainable software systems and evaluating architectural trade-offs.
- Experience delivering production APIs or data pipelines with rigorous testing practices and TDD.
- Experience in data-intensive environments such as equities or commodities trading, or willingness to learn the wholesale electric power industry.
- Ability to coach junior team members, influence technical direction, and support multiple teams, systems, and products.
