Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, and maintenance of backend software processors for real-time weather data.
- Own end-to-end backend data flows from source system through validation to production database.
- Design and implement new processing capabilities to support various weather data providers and formats.
- Build data processing software that is easily tested, deployed, and monitored.
- Define reliability, performance, and scalability standards for backend processing software.
- Drive technical alignment across teams on complex processing solutions.
- Investigate and resolve software defects and production issues.
- Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to other developers.
- Mentor less experienced developers in backend data processing practices.
- Define documentation standards for software components and workflows.
- Evaluate emerging technologies for team-wide adoption.
- Contribute to technical planning and continuous improvement of development processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in backend software or distributed systems development.
- Advanced experience with Scala or Java and functional programming concepts.
- Expertise in cloud environments like Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Deep experience with relational database architecture and SQL performance optimization.
- Proven experience with structured and semi-structured data formats and RESTful APIs.
- Experience leading software design discussions and technical decision-making.
