Base Salary
$145k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services for financial workflows and transaction processing using Java.
- Own features end to end, including data model, service, API, and frontend.
- Build and maintain APIs for internal services and external integrations.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and evolve service-oriented systems.
- Improve system reliability, performance, and observability.
- Refactor and modernize legacy systems.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term fixes.
- Partner with product and design to translate requirements into features.
- Participate in code reviews and advocate for engineering standards.
- Use AI-powered development tools to accelerate software processes.
- Share effective AI workflows and best practices with the team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer in a production environment.
- Deep experience with Java and modern JVM frameworks.
- Experience designing APIs and service-oriented systems.
- Familiarity with relational databases and large datasets.
- Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
- Proficiency in a modern reactive frontend framework, preferably Angular.
- Familiarity with containerized environments like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants in regular workflows.
- Strong judgment regarding AI tooling and human review.
- Highly self-reliant with strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in regulated industries like financial services or cannabis is a plus.
