Base Salary
$145k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build Java backend services for financial workflows and transaction processing.
- Own features end to end across data models, services, APIs, and Angular frontend experiences.
- Build and maintain APIs for internal services, external integrations, and the frontend.
- Contribute to architecture and evolve service-oriented, event-driven systems.
- Improve reliability, performance, and observability across the stack.
- Refactor and modernize legacy systems and troubleshoot production issues.
- Partner with product and design to deliver well-tested features.
- Participate in code reviews and promote strong engineering standards.
- Use Claude and other AI tools for design, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and code review while validating correctness, security, maintainability, and performance.
- Share effective AI workflows and evaluate emerging AI development tools.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of production backend engineering experience.
- Deep experience building backend services with Java and modern JVM frameworks.
- Experience designing APIs and service-oriented systems.
- Experience with relational databases, large datasets, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Working proficiency with Angular, Vue, or React and TypeScript, with Angular preferred.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes containerized environments.
- Professional experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or similar.
- Strong judgment regarding AI tool usage, security, data handling, and financial workflows.
- Ability to work independently, make technical decisions, and lead initiatives end to end.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience in regulated industries such as financial services or cannabis is preferred.
