Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and take end-to-end ownership of scalable backend microservices using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS.
- Build and scale distributed, event-driven systems and integrations with AWS services and third-party systems.
- Write clean, maintainable, testable code and participate in design discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
- Ensure backend services are resilient, performant, secure, and scalable across multiple regions.
- Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams on deployments, monitoring, and infrastructure automation.
- Apply data structures, algorithms, and design patterns to solve complex engineering problems.
- Write unit and integration tests and use API documentation tools such as Swagger.
- Use AI coding assistants and agentic workflows for development while validating generated code for hallucinations, vulnerabilities, logic errors, and architectural issues.
- Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- 4–7 years of hands-on backend development experience in product-driven environments.
- Hands-on experience building and scaling distributed, event-driven systems.
- Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, event-driven architecture, microservices, software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience with Docker, ECS or Kubernetes, Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools, and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
- Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL databases, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis, AWS services, Kafka, and observability tools such as CloudWatch or Grafana.
- Experience writing unit and integration tests and working with test frameworks and Swagger.
- Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude, writing effective prompts, and responsibly reviewing AI-generated code.
- Familiarity with agentic and multi-step development workflows and the limitations and risks of AI tools in production engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering or an equivalent discipline.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, debugging, communication, collaboration, accountability, and mentoring skills.
