Responsibilities
- Write code and tests, build prototypes, and profile and analyze Firefox performance bottlenecks.
- Develop performance-critical software using primarily C++ and JavaScript, with other languages as needed.
- Debug and resolve performance issues using experiments, measurements, and profiling tools.
- Educate engineers through code reviews, talks, tooling, and documentation.
- Define and drive actionable next steps from high-level objectives.
- Lead and support performance efforts with engineering teams across Mozilla.
- Shape performance benchmarks and prioritize necessary improvements.
- Develop strategies for the future of the Performance team and organization.
- Set team goals and motivate and align cross-functional teams toward shared outcomes.
Requirements
- BS or MS in computer science or computer engineering.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience.
- Mastery of C++ programming and understanding of JavaScript programming.
- Proven experience developing performance-critical software.
- Experimental and measured approach to diagnosing issues and validating solutions.
- Proven ability to debug and analyze performance bottlenecks using profiling tools such as VTune and Xperf.
- Experience with multithreading, concurrency, disk I/O, and GPU performance.
- Track record of setting team goals and driving them to completion.
- Ability to work effectively in a geographically distributed team with strong written and verbal communication.
