Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and hands-on development of scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available enterprise applications, primarily backend services.
- Own complex technical initiatives end-to-end from architecture and proof of concept through implementation, deployment, production readiness, and continuous improvement.
- Drive engineering excellence through design and code reviews, automated testing, observability, performance engineering, production reliability, and security practices.
- Apply cloud, data, AI, and ML engineering concepts while optimizing infrastructure utilization, cloud cost, model/API consumption, and AI token efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, influence architectural decisions, collaborate with product and business partners, and establish reusable engineering standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area plus four years of software engineering or related experience, or six years of software engineering or related experience.
- Strong hands-on experience building large-scale, production-grade distributed applications with deep backend expertise and full-stack capability.
- Proficiency in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, distributed systems, system design, data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and design patterns.
- Experience with React, JavaScript, TypeScript, databases, caching, asynchronous and event-driven architectures, scalability, performance, resiliency, and disaster recovery.
- Experience designing and operating applications on GCP or Azure using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with automated testing, observability, logging, monitoring, alerting, CI/CD, and production support practices.
- Understanding of cloud architecture and FinOps principles, including infrastructure utilization, application efficiency, performance, and cloud cost optimization.
- Exposure to ML engineering concepts and to generative AI or LLM application development, including prompt/context design, model/API integration, evaluation, responsible AI, latency and cost trade-offs, and token optimization.
- Ability to analyze complex technical problems, evaluate architectural trade-offs, influence technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate across engineering, product, business, and platform teams.
- Preferred qualification: master’s degree in a relevant field plus two years of software engineering or related experience.
