Responsibilities
- Frame ambiguous mobile problems as hypotheses, experiments, and technical prototypes.
- Lead or contribute to discovery sprints, feasibility studies, technical spikes, and controlled experiments.
- Build native and cross-platform mobile applications and influence mobile architecture, frameworks, SDKs, and integration patterns.
- Instrument prototypes and applications with analytics to measure adoption, performance, and learning outcomes.
- Write maintainable mobile code and optimize memory, battery use, startup time, responsiveness, security, and accessibility.
- Collaborate with UX, backend, data, product, and business teams on APIs, data models, and service boundaries.
- Provide technical mentorship and architectural guidance to mobile engineers.
- Advise on mobile DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, release strategies, feature flags, and phased rollouts.
- Support the transition of validated concepts into scaled delivery teams and document technical decisions, experiments, and findings.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional mobile development experience.
- Experience with native mobile development using Swift, SwiftUI, and/or Kotlin.
- Experience with cross-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter.
- Knowledge of mobile application architecture and design patterns including MVVM, MVC, and Clean Architecture.
- Experience with API integration, mobile networking, data synchronization, lifecycle management, diagnostics, and performance optimization.
- Experience working with incomplete or evolving requirements and building prototypes or proof-of-concepts.
- A track record of delivering high-quality, performant production mobile applications.
- Deep understanding of iOS and Android platform capabilities, limitations, and guidelines.
- Experience with Xcode, Android Studio, mobile analytics, experimentation, observability, feature flags, phased rollouts, or experimentation platforms.
- Experience with mobile databases such as Core Data, Room, Realm, or SQLite.
- Understanding of mobile security guidelines, common vulnerabilities, app store submission, and review processes.
- Experience with mobile CI/CD tools such as Fastlane, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for mobile backends.
- Experience with ARKit, ARCore, or other emerging mobile technologies is valuable.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience; a master’s degree, innovation portfolio, relevant certifications, or outstanding sustained innovation work are preferred or valuable.
