Responsibilities
- Lead technical discovery, architecture, design decisions, and strategically important initiatives across ad serving, programmatic infrastructure, identity, and audience platforms.
- Write, test, document, and maintain robust backend and full-stack code, including APIs, data pipelines, and event-driven systems.
- Conduct research and proof-of-concept work to assess feasibility and guide technical recommendations.
- Own complex performance, integration, architecture, reliability, and operational challenges in production systems.
- Coach and mentor engineers and AdTech Specialists through pairing, code reviews, and direct guidance.
- Support the Engineering Manager with technical direction, engineering practices, and team capability development.
- Align solution architecture with broader organisational technology strategy and contribute to engineering guilds and standards.
- Support production systems and participate in the Day Pager Escalation roster.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong background in complex, high-scale systems.
- Expert API development skills, including REST and GraphQL, plus distributed event-driven systems architecture and AWS and/or GCP cloud infrastructure.
- Proven experience building and operating scalable, reliable production systems and resolving high-impact operational incidents.
- Advanced backend and genuine full-stack capability, including scalable system design, long-term architecture strategy, modern databases, message queues, and deployment pipelines.
- Experience with AdTech, digital advertising, or media technology is highly regarded but not essential.
- Strong communication, technical leadership, mentoring, architecture, testing, observability, monitoring, and engineering-quality skills.
- Experience leading teams or initiatives to deliver high-quality solutions and build inclusive, high-performing engineering teams.
