Base Salary
$146k - $234k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of automation frameworks across FAA infrastructure, applications, and operations.
- Define enterprise automation standards, tools, and practices aligned with FAA modernization objectives.
- Advise FAA leadership on automation strategy, tool selection, and roadmap development.
- Provide technical oversight of subcontractor automation activities.
- Drive Infrastructure as Code, Configuration as Code, and automated deployment pipelines.
- Integrate automation into testing to validate performance, reliability, and security at scale.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and systems engineering teams on Zero Trust, RMF, and compliance requirements.
- Conduct trade studies, risk assessments, and architecture reviews for automation solutions.
- Mentor engineers and analysts and prepare executive-level briefings, reports, and technical recommendations.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain or maintain a Public Trust clearance are required.
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience, master’s degree with 10 years, associate’s degree with 14 years, or high school diploma/equivalent with 16 years of experience.
- Experience in IT automation architecture or engineering.
- Strong knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation and experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
- Knowledge of NIST RMF, FedRAMP, and Zero Trust requirements and their integration into automated solutions.
- Hands-on experience automating infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, patching, and compliance activities.
- Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks for performance, scalability, and security validation.
- Preferred qualifications include FAA or NAS automation experience, an advanced degree, relevant cloud or infrastructure certifications, AI/ML-driven automation experience, predictive analytics or intelligent orchestration experience, and leadership of large-scale mission-critical automation programs.

- The position is 100% on-site, primarily in Herndon, Virginia, with an alternate location in Bowie, Maryland.
- Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
