Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices in Java and Linux-based environments.
- Contribute to the architecture and scaling of large distributed systems with emphasis on performance, reliability, and security.
- Develop and deploy services in cloud environments.
- Engineer relational database capabilities for high-volume, data-driven applications.
- Build, optimize, and operate containerized platform services.
- Troubleshoot production issues, improve monitoring, and optimize system performance.
- Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and platform teams to deliver secure, scalable capabilities for data science, analytics, and AI/ML workloads.
Requirements
- A BS in Computer Science or equivalent is required.
- 10+ years of experience building and operating software applications or platform-level systems is required.
- Strong proficiency with Java, Ansible or Python, Postgres, MySQL or MariaDB, Linux, and AWS.
- Hands-on experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and distributed system design.
- Proficiency with SQL databases and data-intensive application patterns.
- Experience deploying and operating services in cloud environments.
- Strong experience with containers.
- Proficiency with Git-based repositories, including GitLab and GitHub, and modern development workflows.
- Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, testing, and secure coding practices.
- US citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph are required.
- Desired qualifications include familiarity with Hadoop, Spark, Yarn, Hive, Trino, RBAC, ABAC, enterprise access-control systems, large-scale multitenant or high-availability platforms, and system hardening for stringent accreditation or security compliance levels.
