Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and optimize backend services, APIs, and microservices.
- Contribute to the architecture and scaling of large-scale distributed systems with emphasis on performance, reliability, and security.
- Develop and deploy services in cloud environments.
- Engineer relational database capabilities for high-volume, data-intensive applications.
- Build, optimize, and operate containerized services across the platform.
- Troubleshoot production issues, improve monitoring, and optimize system performance.
- Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and platform teams to support data science, analytics, and AI/ML workloads.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience building and operating software applications or platform-level systems.
- Strong proficiency with Java, Python, at least one of Postgres, MySQL, or MariaDB, Linux, and AWS.
- Hands-on experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and distributed-system design.
- Proficiency with SQL databases, data-intensive application patterns, cloud deployment and operations, containers, and Git-based repositories including GitLab or GitHub.
- Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, testing, and secure coding practices.
- US citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph.
- Preferred experience with Hadoop, Spark, Yarn, Hive, Trino, RBAC, ABAC, enterprise access-control systems, multitenant or high-availability platforms, security hardening, and Ansible.
