Responsibilities
- Capture hardware requirements and design firmware and RTL solutions.
- Develop, analyze, integrate, and debug FPGA designs.
- Manage firmware development activities through project and engineering lifecycles.
- Produce materials for design reviews and support on-time project delivery.
- Plan and execute testing, integration, and design verification using VHDL test-benches and integrated logic analyzers.
- Ensure firmware designs follow the company firmware process and support verification at hardware and system level alongside software and electronic engineers.
Requirements
- Degree such as BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, or EngD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a related science such as Physics or Computer Science.
- Essential ability to design RTL using VHDL; Verilog knowledge is advantageous.
- Experience with high-speed, multi-frequency clocking architectures and FPGA technologies from AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera, or Microsemi.
- Knowledge of FPGA timing and area constraints, place-and-route optimization, verification techniques, and firmware debugging.
- Experience with version management using Subversion, Git, or CVS.
- Familiarity with tools such as Xilinx Vivado, Altera Quartus II or Quartus Prime, Mentor Graphics HDL Designer, ModelSim, or Questa is advantageous.
- Knowledge of RTCA DO-254 or a similar structured firmware design process is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, C, C++, MATLAB, or LabVIEW is advantageous.
- Willingness to learn and progress through a technical career path, with a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
