Base Salary

$160k - $185k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead team-level solution design and translate functional and non-functional requirements into technical designs.
  • Develop and maintain architectural runway, technical enablers, dependencies, constraints, and architectural work.
  • Lead interface and integration design across applications, services, APIs, data sources, external systems, and shared platforms.
  • Define and guide security, performance, reliability, scalability, maintainability, observability, and testability requirements.
  • Establish technology standards, reusable architectural patterns, reference implementations, and engineering guardrails.
  • Assess and prioritize technical debt with Product Owners and Solution Architects.
  • Create architecture diagrams, system and component models, interface definitions, architectural decision records, and technical documentation.
  • Work directly with developers on design, implementation, reviews, troubleshooting, mentoring, and technical problem solving.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps, testing, UX, cybersecurity, Product Management, and other stakeholders on delivery and operational requirements.
  • Identify and coordinate cross-team, environment, infrastructure, integration, and external dependencies.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for complex or recurring defects, integration issues, environment constraints, and architectural problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering, application development, systems engineering, or technical architecture experience, including hands-on production software design and delivery.
  • Experience with software and application architecture, system design, requirements translation, and architecture tradeoffs.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS, including cloud architecture, secure networking, identity and access management, service integration, and deployment.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating applications, services, data sources, and external systems.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, automation, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Ability to work directly with developers through technical design, implementation guidance, code and design reviews, troubleshooting, and complex problem solving.
  • Ability to address security, performance, reliability, scalability, maintainability, observability, and testability requirements.
  • Strong technical communication and collaborative leadership skills across engineering, product, testing, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Experience in Agile software delivery environments and team-level technical decision-making within broader architecture guardrails.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one.
  • Preferred experience includes Angular, microservices, containers, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS architecture or certification, SAFe Agile Release Trains, PI Planning, secure or regulated mission systems, ATO/RMF processes, Army or DoD systems, UI/UX, accessibility testing, and organizational change management.
