Base Salary

$181k - $226k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the frontend architecture for the next-generation console, including application structure, routing, state boundaries, shared abstractions, and maintainability.
  • Design and maintain cross-origin authentication and session infrastructure, including auth flows, CORS policies, CSRF protections, cookies, session strategies, and multiple deployment environments.
  • Build and operate a frontend serving platform for multiple Tailscale products under a unified development workflow.
  • Establish shared infrastructure, conventions, design patterns, and guardrails for cohesive product experiences and accessible production-quality UI.
  • Partner with Product Design and collaborate with Growth, Product, infrastructure, and engineering teams on user experiences, experimentation, analytics instrumentation, and feature rollouts.
  • Define and improve frontend integration and end-to-end testing strategies, local development workflows, build pipelines, preview deployments, release processes, and operational reliability.
  • Provide technical leadership through reviews, mentoring, and platform standards, and participate in an on-call rotation every few weeks to triage and mitigate incidents.

Requirements

  • Deep experience building and operating production React applications at scale.
  • Strong understanding of HTTP semantics, browser security boundaries, authentication flows, cookies, storage, CORS, and CSRF.
  • Experience building internal platforms, frameworks, or shared libraries that enable teams to ship with strong guardrails.
  • Experience driving a unified console or platform vision across disparate frontend codebases.
  • Strong judgment regarding frontend architecture, standardization, abstraction, and maintainability.
  • Experience designing scalable frontend testing strategies.
  • Ability to collaborate across design, growth, infrastructure, and developer tooling functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain tradeoffs and influence technical direction.
  • High ownership, autonomy, and ability to drive ambiguous problems to completion.
  • Preferred experience with AI-assisted frontend development tooling, design systems, component libraries, feature flagging, analytics, experimentation, progressive delivery, identity, admin, B2B SaaS, or security-sensitive products.
