Responsibilities
- Define and drive the long-term technical vision and architecture for the React Native mobile platform across iOS and Android.
- Own mobile architecture, platform infrastructure, performance, reliability, and release engineering strategy.
- Lead complex cross-functional initiatives involving mobile, backend, product, design, and data teams.
- Evaluate and promote AI-powered development tools, on-device intelligence, and AI-driven personalization capabilities.
- Establish standards for code quality, testing, observability, and mobile engineering practices.
- Drive crash monitoring, CI/CD, progressive rollouts, performance improvements, and release quality.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, architectural guidance, coaching, and technical thought leadership.
- Partner with Product and Design on the mobile roadmap and translate business goals into technical solutions.
- Identify and remove platform bottlenecks affecting team velocity or user experience.
- Promote engineering excellence through technical talks, documentation, and inclusive collaboration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years building and scaling production mobile applications and significant React Native experience.
- Deep production expertise with React Native, including Fabric, TurboModules, native module bridging, and cross-platform parity.
- Strong experience with iOS and Android native layers, including Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, and Java.
- Expert-level TypeScript experience and deep knowledge of scalable state management and mobile architecture patterns.
- Expertise diagnosing React Native and native performance issues involving JavaScript and UI threads, bridge overhead, memory, startup time, and rendering.
- Experience with mobile crash reporting, performance monitoring, analytics, app distribution, phased rollouts, feature flags, OTA updates, and mobile CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end mobile testing using tools such as Jest, Detox, or Maestro.
- Proficiency with RESTful and GraphQL APIs and cloud infrastructure including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience leveraging AI for code generation and integrating AI/ML-powered mobile features such as on-device models, LLM-backed experiences, or recommendation systems.
- Ability to define technical direction, lead complex multi-team projects, influence organization-wide decisions, and mentor engineers.
