Responsibilities
- Own message queue-based job scheduling, task dispatching, workflow management, and lifecycle execution.
- Design and maintain management, appliance-facing, and customer-facing APIs using threaded and asynchronous Python services.
- Enhance UrlProtection services, including headless browser automation, WHOIS services, and time-of-click functionality.
- Maintain and modernize the TypeScript/Vue operator and customer web application.
- Own data access and integration services involving MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Redis, MongoDB, Consul, and URL verdict caching.
- Manage Cython builds, Docker image creation, CI/CD workflows, packaging, and multi-VM Docker Compose deployments.
- Troubleshoot production issues such as queue backlogs, workflow failures, stuck jobs, API problems, and deployment incidents.
- Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, and cross-functional scalability and reliability efforts.
- Provide maintenance-level support and first-line incident triage for adjacent technical areas during team absences.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of software engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with a master's degree, 3+ years with a PhD, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong Python experience with multithreaded and asynchronous programming, including asyncio, aiohttp, and FastAPI.
- Experience with distributed task processing, messaging systems, reliability, idempotency, and fault recovery.
- Experience building and supporting web APIs with Flask, FastAPI, or similar frameworks, plus WSGI/uWSGI and Nginx deployment knowledge.
- Frontend experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and frameworks such as Vue, React, or Angular.
- Proficiency with MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Redis, MongoDB, and Consul.
- Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, Jenkins or comparable CI/CD platforms, and Debian packaging; compiled Python extension build experience is preferred.
- Comfort working in Linux environments, including process troubleshooting, log analysis, and shell scripting on Ubuntu or Debian-based systems.
- Strong written communication and effective collaboration in a distributed, asynchronous team environment.
