Base Salary
$160k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and build composable, highly reliable operating system and container image pipelines for on-premises and cloud environments.
- Define, implement, and enforce secure OS and container baselines, including CIS-aligned controls.
- Develop automation frameworks and developer-facing APIs for image creation and testing.
- Implement image lineage, asset tracking, and SBOM generation for supply-chain traceability.
- Integrate automated testing and verification into image pipelines.
- Build tools and web interfaces for inspecting image state, metadata, provenance, and compatibility.
- Contribute to and collaborate on open source tooling.
- Operate and improve large-scale distributed systems and automation for global fleets.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with an object-oriented programming language such as Python, C/C++, or Java.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong Linux/Unix systems background, including operating system internals, hardening, and configuration.
- Experience designing and operating highly available, large-scale systems.
- Familiarity with OS baseline and container security concepts.
- Familiarity with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or similar containerization technologies and their security implications.
- Preferred experience with image-building systems such as Packer or Kairos and CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins.
- Preferred production experience with configuration management, orchestration, or workflow systems such as Chef, Ansible, Salt, or Airflow.
- Preferred experience enforcing secure operating system baselines or container layers.
- Experience with systems or product development languages such as Go, React, TypeScript, or Ruby is welcomed.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects is welcomed.
- Strong interest in testing, observability, and reliability engineering practices is welcomed.
