Responsibilities
- Own the overall architecture of the Business Spend segment in partnership with the Engineering Manager.
- Lead significant supplier and bank account data migration from a legacy service to a dedicated service without downtime.
- Improve the reliability and observability of invoice payment flows.
- Implement a consistent vendor data model across cards, invoices, and accounting.
- Drive consistent technical decisions across three teams through design documents, code reviews, and architecture forums.
- Provide technical mentorship through pairing, reviews, and clear written documentation.
- Take a major supplier migration workstream through production and expand technical direction across the segment.
Requirements
- Have extensive experience as a technical lead or owner of cross-team or cross-domain initiatives in SaaS organizations of 500+ people.
- Have significant experience architecting services across multiple domains and decoupling complex legacy systems through long-term delivery plans.
- Bring deep backend engineering experience in a modern statically typed language such as Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript on production systems at scale.
- Demonstrate experience leading distributed teams across countries and time zones through both written and live communication.
- Have a track record of executing migrations inside legacy systems, not only designing target architectures.
- Have experience influencing technical direction across teams without direct ownership or formal authority.
- Have strong technical writing experience with design documents, decision records, and migration plans.
- Bring a background in payments, fintech, accounts payable, ERP, or B2B SaaS.
- Have experience with event-driven systems and Kafka, plus a practice of building observability into shipped systems.
