Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the catalog API from design through production.
- Build and operate data pipelines that keep the catalog current.
- Tune API and PostgreSQL performance at scale.
- Develop secure, scalable backend services in Python.
- Ship automated tests and reliable deployments.
- Shape architecture and technical direction with a small, high-autonomy team.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of backend development experience building secure, scalable production services.
- Strong Python skills and API design experience using a framework such as FastAPI or Flask.
- Deep experience building and operating data pipelines over large datasets.
- Strong PostgreSQL expertise, including performance tuning at scale.
- Experience building and operating cloud services using AWS, GCP, or similar platforms.
- Experience with infrastructure as code such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Strong automated testing discipline and experience with zero-downtime deployments or service modernization.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
- Preferred experience with geospatial data or large-scale archives and familiarity with STAC, OGC APIs, PostGIS, and GDAL.
- Preferred experience with Kubernetes or similar container orchestration.
- Ability to apply AI to accelerate implementation.
