Responsibilities
- Own the full software development lifecycle from design and development through testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Design and build backend services, RESTful APIs, and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build serverless and event-driven systems and data pipelines using Kafka and queues.
- Develop and maintain secure integrations with third-party APIs, authentication flows, and webhooks.
- Create and maintain sequence diagrams and technical documentation describing service interactions and data flows.
- Design, implement, and maintain databases and caching layers with attention to data modeling, integrity, performance, and maintainability.
- Manage and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines for builds, tests, and deployments.
- Use Terraform and Kubernetes to manage infrastructure and scale services across multiple cloud regions.
- Monitor production services, investigate incidents, and maintain reliability during high-traffic events.
- Review code, provide feedback, share knowledge, and collaborate in a cross-functional Lite Agile team.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend development experience.
- Strong Java and Spring Boot skills, including knowledge of the Spring ecosystem and Gradle.
- Experience designing, consuming, and architecting REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, and EventBridge.
- Experience with Kafka or similar messaging systems.
- Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases and caching, including DynamoDB and Redis.
- Understanding of OAuth 2.0 and secure handling of user data.
- Experience writing unit and integration tests for distributed systems.
- Ability to produce sequence diagrams and technical documentation from implementation requirements.
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools, especially GitLab CI/CD.
- Experience with both Kubernetes and Terraform.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Openness to learning new tools and technologies and adapting to changing requirements.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and the judgment to review and validate AI-generated code before release.
