Senior Data Engineer
TELUS DigitalResponsibilities
- Develop and optimize scalable, secure, reliable, and high-performing data pipelines.
- Identify process improvements, automate manual tasks, and contribute to infrastructure redesign.
- Design and develop data architectures and support data integration, storage, processing, and quality.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Software Engineers, project managers, product owners, and other stakeholders on planning, prioritization, estimation, and data-driven decision-making.
- Mentor junior engineers, provide constructive feedback, and share technical expertise.
- Research and adopt new technologies, libraries, frameworks, and data engineering best practices.
- Ensure work considers accessibility and positively impacts others.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, master’s, and/or doctoral degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related subject.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
- Experience in technology-related fields, including industry or academic research in areas such as BI, software, data science, or data engineering.
- Experience participating in the design and development of data architectures.
- Hands-on experience developing and optimizing data pipelines.
- Experience with databases, data modeling projects, and SQL.
- Experience with a general-purpose programming language such as Python or Scala.
- Effective English communication skills for explaining technical and non-technical concepts to different audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Bonus experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and Agile environments.
