Responsibilities
- Lead the shared Kubernetes and container orchestration platform.
- Design and maintain the GitLab CI/CD platform.
- Develop Terraform and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
- Build automation using Go, Python, or Shell.
- Design platform architecture balancing scalability, reliability, and developer experience.
- Establish monitoring, observability, logging, and incident response practices.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and scientific stakeholders to translate complex needs into practical solutions.
- Mentor junior and mid-level platform engineers and provide technical leadership without line authority.
- Drive security and compliance initiatives within the platform.
- Set standards for quality, documentation, operational practices, and responsible AI-assisted engineering.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration, GitLab CI/CD platform design, and Terraform.
- Demonstrable experience with Go, Python, or Shell automation.
- Experience with shared platform and product thinking, operational standards design, and technical leadership without line authority.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and their native services.
- Experience designing and implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.
- Experience with security best practices and compliance frameworks in DevOps environments.
- Experience with system architecture design and scalability planning for enterprise-level platforms.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Bonus experience in agriculture, life sciences, scientific computing, regulated enterprises, internal platforms, distributed engineering organizations, service mesh technologies, advanced networking, database administration, or data pipeline orchestration.
