Responsibilities
- Participate in the software development lifecycle by contributing to requirements, technical design, implementation, testing, defect resolution, and deployment readiness.
- Develop and maintain service components, APIs, data collection jobs, validation checks, automation, and internal engineering tools.
- Build internal interfaces that help teams inspect quality data, identify missing signals, and determine next steps.
- Write maintainable code and unit tests, execute relevant tests, and participate in design and code reviews.
- Create and update technical, user-facing, and operational documentation.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues across development, test, pre-production, and production environments.
- Monitor and triage incidents, participate in postmortems, and gradually support on-call activities.
- Estimate assignments, communicate status and blockers, and collaborate with engineering teammates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of related experience, master’s degree with 0 years of related experience, or equivalent practical experience.
- Basic knowledge of software engineering principles and exposure to current technologies through coursework, internships, professional work, open-source work, or personal projects.
- Practical coding experience in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python or Go.
- Fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, debugging, and readable, maintainable code.
- Basic understanding of backend or service concepts including APIs, HTTP, databases, data formats, and automated testing.
- Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle and common agile engineering practices.
- Ability to write functional code and unit tests with guidance and troubleshoot straightforward issues with support.
- Good communication and collaboration skills and willingness to learn secure coding, reliability, and production support practices.
- Preferred: familiarity with backend frameworks, internal tools, data pipelines, developer-facing systems, SQL or NoSQL databases, CI/CD systems, source control systems, test automation frameworks, containers, and cloud-based development environments.
- Preferred: interest or exposure to engineering quality topics, secure coding, privacy-aware development, reliability testing, incident triage, or production support.
