Responsibilities
- Drive implementation of infrastructure platforms covering compute, networking, storage, observability, and service mesh systems.
- Own platform roadmaps and ensure systems scale reliably with business growth.
- Build and operate resilient, self-healing distributed systems across thousands of compute nodes and multiple data centers.
- Develop next-generation data-plane and control-plane capabilities using cloud-native primitives, Envoy, and Istio.
- Establish paved-path patterns for reliability, performance, security, and operational excellence.
- Balance live-site management, feature delivery, and technical-debt retirement.
- Deliver thin slices of end-to-end functionality using data-driven feedback loops.
- Participate in the on-call rotation to resolve complex production issues and maintain high availability.
- Contribute enhancements to open-source software and the broader community.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience with a strong infrastructure background.
- Experience building large-scale distributed systems in public cloud environments such as AWS or GCP.
- Proficiency with Golang, Java, and/or C++ in Linux/UNIX data-center environments.
- Experience operating large-scale cluster-management systems such as Kubernetes for mission-critical services.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, TLS termination, HTTP proxies, and network load balancing.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure automation tools, frameworks, workflows, and validation platforms.
- Working knowledge of configuration management and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Spinnaker and Terraform.
- Experience with Agile development and Test-Driven Development, with attention to code quality and secure code.
- Experience using telemetry and metrics to drive operational excellence.
- Experience with Istio and Envoy is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with crash-only and recovery-oriented software design.
- Ability to work in complex team environments and deliver under dependency constraints.
