Base Salary
$129k - $174k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop scalable, maintainable, and high-quality software used by institutional investors, asset managers, technology firms, and custodian banks.
- Own critical processes and independently move major features or services through design, development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Contribute to software design, architecture, technical breakdowns, product roadmaps, system requirements, and cross-domain documentation.
- Build scalable backend services involving microservices, polyglot storage, messaging systems, and data processing pipelines.
- Test and validate owned code in development and production, including unit testing, automated system testing, testability, performance, and dependency impact.
- Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, respond to customer needs, and address systemic problems involving quality, scaling, and performance.
- Improve code quality and architecture while maintaining awareness of the broader system and adjacent services.
- Participate in Agile meetings and collaborate across teams to develop strategies and feature enhancements.
- Mentor, train, and support entry-level and less experienced engineers inside and outside the division.
- Take on unowned work that improves team velocity and software quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 7 years of professional industry experience with Java, Python, or other leading programming languages.
- Experience with object-oriented or functional programming languages, software development lifecycle practices, and Agile practices.
- Experience monitoring production systems and working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with messaging systems such as Cloud Pub/Sub, Kafka, or SQS/SNS.
- Experience with machine learning.
- Ability to build scalable backend services and work with distributed software systems, big-data technologies, relational databases, and NoSQL databases.
- Experience or knowledge with Hadoop, Spark, DynamoDB, HBase, Hive, Cassandra, or Vertica is desired.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to produce software design documentation, presentations, and sequence diagrams and explain complex technical designs concisely.
- Ability to communicate in English and work effectively in a collaborative, detail-oriented team environment.
