Responsibilities
- Own and provide technical support and guidance for specific application modules.
- Design, develop, modify, debug, maintain, and improve mainframe software systems.
- Participate in peer code reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Investigate complex issues, resolve bugs and abends, and provide fixes or workarounds.
- Ensure software is maintainable, scalable, operable, and supportable.
- Present software demonstrations to internal and external stakeholders and customers.
- Lead or represent technical design and product or application discussions.
- Use automation and software engineering tools to reduce design complexity and response time.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Provide technical mentoring within the team.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience in Mainframe environments.
- Experience with Mainframe, z/OS, TSO, ISFP, JCL, REXX/CLIST, COBOL, IMS DB/DC, batch schedulers such as ESP or CA7, abend and error resolution, and Connect Direct (C:D).
- Experience with large language models such as GPT or Claude.
- Familiarity with AI productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
- Knowledge of prompt engineering and optimization.
- Experience with model fine-tuning and customization.
- Knowledge of Visual Studio Code, Python, APIs, SDKs for AI integration, and AWS.
