Responsibilities

  • Design and implement backend features using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Build service interfaces with gRPC and Protocol Buffers.
  • Store, retrieve, and process player statistics and leaderboard data using PostgreSQL and Redis.
  • Develop and run services in a Kubernetes-based environment.
  • Write production-quality code and unit and integration tests.
  • Investigate and debug issues using logs, metrics, traces, and observability tools.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and the team’s sprint cycle.
  • Collaborate with Gameplay Services engineers and EA game teams.
  • Own a well-scoped engineering project or feature from design through testing and delivery.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Programming experience with Java and understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and databases.
  • Exposure to Spring or Spring Boot, gRPC and Protocol Buffers, PostgreSQL or relational databases, Redis or caching technologies, Docker and Kubernetes, microservices or distributed systems, cloud technologies, automated testing and CI/CD, or performance testing and optimization.
  • Must be available for a full-time paid internship in summer 2026.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in summer 2027 and slated to graduate no earlier than December 2027.
  • Must be legally authorized to work full-time in Canada during the internship.
