Responsibilities
- Create software architecture for real-time, fault-tolerant control of 20kW+ spacecraft.
- Develop software applications controlling propulsion, guidance and attitude control, thermal, power, and communications subsystems.
- Design and implement robust spacecraft-operation state machines.
- Create tools that enable rapid deployment of quality software.
- Perform data analysis and anomaly investigation to identify and resolve software bugs.
- Support spacecraft subsystem integration and testing.
- Build and maintain infrastructure that improves software development and testing reliability.
- Own a software engineering project end-to-end and support on-orbit spacecraft operations.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- At least 6 months of technical engineering experience outside the university classroom, such as laboratory work, research, extracurricular project teams, volunteering, personal projects, or prior internship/work experience.
- Development experience in Rust, C, C++, or Go.
- Preferred: spacecraft flight software development experience.
- Preferred: Linux systems programming and driver development experience.
- Preferred: experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery systems.
- Preferred: experience with hard real-time embedded systems, including bare-metal or RTOS environments.
- Preferred: basic knowledge of electronics, computer architecture, and control systems.
- Preferred: experience defining and creating hardware-in-the-loop and hardware-out-of-the-loop test systems.
- Must be available for a minimum 12-week internship.

- Hourly pay of $30–$40.
