Senior Software Engineer (12-month contract)

Responsibilities
- Identify, prioritize, and execute tasks throughout the software development life cycle.
- Collaborate with the business to iterate on software requirements.
- Develop tools and applications using clean, efficient code.
- Automate tasks with appropriate tools and scripting.
- Analyze and debug systems.
- Perform validation and verification testing in a test-driven manner.
- Review colleagues’ work and participate in code reviews.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products.
- Keep software current with the latest technologies.
- Build and support AI agentic systems.
Requirements
- Proven software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Python and/or Java and the ability to write clean, scalable, production-grade code.
- Experience designing and building microservices and RESTful APIs in distributed, cloud-based environments.
- Experience designing and extending AI agentic systems with tool use, planning, and autonomous decision-making workflows.
- Experience building multi-agent systems with collaboration, delegation, and coordination among agents.
- Hands-on experience building conversational or chat systems with short-term session context and long-term persistent context.
- Experience building Retrieval-Augmented Generation systems, including document ingestion, chunking, vector stores, and retrieval pipelines.
- Experience building MCP servers and integrating agentic systems with external APIs, third-party services, and enterprise data sources.
- Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, least-privilege access, prompt-injection defense, and audit logging for agentic systems.
- Knowledge of relational and vector databases, plus system and performance monitoring tools.
- Proficiency with Git and CI/CD-driven development workflows.
- BSc/BA in Computer Science or a related degree.
- Preferred experience includes distributed computing, Spring Boot, React, Selenium automation, Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Ansible, Spinnaker, GitHub Actions, AWS, Azure, Terraform, SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, SaaS products, service-oriented architecture, production on-call work, and professional mentoring.
- Knowledge of document parsing, Linux, IP networking, and generative AI code assistants such as GitHub Copilot is an asset.

- Remote roles may require travel to the Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City offices for onboarding, team events, and semi-annual or annual meetings.
- Hybrid roles require residence within commuting distance of the specified office and regular team events in the office.
