Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend game engines for Light & Wonder digital games.
- Implement rules, mechanics, and features for online slot games.
- Write comprehensive tests and assist Quality Assurance with testing and debugging.
- Create technical and process documentation.
- Collaborate with game designers, mathematicians, and frontend developers.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Contribute to tools and processes that improve the game development pipeline.
- Participate in team meetings and support team success.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience.
- Familiarity with Java or another object-oriented programming language and strong understanding of OOP principles.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Familiarity with XML and JSON.
- Ability to use debugging tools and analyze logs.
- Practical experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and Jira.
- Familiarity with SSH and command-line tools.
- Knowledge of SQL databases and SQL queries.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is a plus.
- Understanding of online casino games and common game mechanics is a plus.
- Experience with Maven, Python, HTML, JavaScript, browser debugging tools, CI/CD tools, mathematical and statistical concepts, or Excel is a plus.
