Responsibilities
- Build and scale Redis and Valkey cache services and own cluster migrations from planning through delivery.
- Productionize cache clusters through capacity and shard planning, failover and replication configuration, upgrades, and staged rollouts.
- Automate cache provisioning, configuration changes, and access through audited self-service workflows.
- Operate production cache infrastructure by defining SLOs, creating alerting, participating in on-call, and reducing recurring operational work.
- Partner with client teams on caching strategy, including key design, TTLs, consistency, client timeouts, and workload analysis.
- Break larger projects into phased deliverables, collaborate with product, design, analytics, and engineering stakeholders, and contribute to code reviews and interviews.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of software engineering experience.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems, with proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and AWS, MySQL, Redis or Valkey, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
- Production experience with Redis, Valkey, or a comparable in-memory store, including replication, persistence, cluster mode, eviction, and failure modes.
- Ability to reason about cache workloads, including hit rates, tail latency, hot keys, stampedes, and source-of-truth consistency.
- Experience automating infrastructure operations with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Python.
- Experience carrying on-call for a stateful service and taking incidents from metrics through root cause analysis to durable remediation.
- Ability to work in a large codebase, debug code, write tested and extensible software, and provide effective code review feedback.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to professional growth.
