Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers to support new features and services.
- Build monitoring tools for site stability and performance.
- Help ensure infrastructure reliability, scalability, and platform SLOs.
- Troubleshoot site issues using Splunk, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry.
- Own and operate critical Cassandra and MySQL datastores.
- Automate infrastructure and operations with Python, Puppet, Git, Jenkins, and Terraform.
- Develop custom tools and contribute to open source projects.
- Participate in a light, geographically distributed on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Familiarity with Linux, particularly Ubuntu or another Linux distribution.
- Command of a modern programming language such as Python, Ruby, Go, Java, or C++.
- Exposure to MySQL and/or Cassandra or similar datastore technologies.
- Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Practical experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management, such as Terraform, Puppet, or Ansible.
- Relevant experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, containerization, workload orchestration, datastores, or streaming technologies.
- Exposure to monitoring practices related to performance, reliability, and security.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with eagerness to learn and take initiative.
