Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Design and implement large-scale, distributed, cloud-native systems with high reliability and performance requirements.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple teams and shape system architecture and long-term technology direction.
- Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions.
- Partner with architects and product leaders on platform roadmaps and shared services strategy.
- Mentor engineers and drive professional development within technical teams.
- Lead architectural design reviews, establish coding standards and design patterns, and influence enterprise-wide technical standards.
- Implement observability and reliability practices and optimize performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
- Lead cross-functional engineering efforts and large-scale technical initiatives.
- Use modern AI-based coding tools and interactive AI tooling to accelerate engineering productivity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred: master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Preferred: 9+ years coding with more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, and Scala.
- Preferred: 5+ years contributing to open-source frameworks and using front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.
- Preferred: 5+ years creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.
- Preferred: 4+ years with databases and database management systems, cloud platforms or virtualization technologies, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing frameworks, and Git-based version-control systems.
- Preferred: 4+ years troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.
- Preferred: 3+ years mentoring senior engineers and driving professional development within technical teams.
- Preferred: experience with observability, distributed-system performance optimization, architectural design reviews, coding standards, reliability practices, technology strategy, and large-scale technical initiatives.
