Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain complex SQL and PL/SQL packages for business, integration, and reporting needs.
- Design, build, optimize, and monitor hand-rolled PL/SQL ETL pipelines, including validation, logging, reconciliation, and high-volume transformations.
- Automate and orchestrate batch workloads using OS-level cron and Oracle’s internal scheduler, including dependencies, retries, restartability, and failure handling.
- Tune Oracle database performance using execution plans, indexing, partitioning, and statistics.
- Ingest and process flat files using external tables, SQL*Loader, and UTL_FILE.
- Troubleshoot database, data, query, and batch-layer performance issues.
- Perform documentation, code reviews, production support, and ticketing activities.
- Use Bash or Korn shell scripting for cron orchestration, file handling, and job wrappers.
- Monitor pipeline and job health for accuracy, performance, and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of hands-on Oracle database development experience.
- Significant experience designing and building custom, hand-rolled PL/SQL ETL pipelines and batch automation without commercial ETL tools.
- Strong knowledge of database architecture, data modeling, normalization, schema design, SQL, and PL/SQL.
- Expertise with stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, cursors, collections, bulk operations, dynamic SQL, exception handling, and autonomous transactions.
- Experience with Oracle 11g, 12c, or 19c, Oracle Scheduler, OS-level cron, SQL*Loader, and UTL_FILE.
- Experience with version control using VSS and ticketing tools such as Jira.
