Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and support secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective Azure cloud platform capabilities for data, analytics, machine learning, and AI workloads.
- Develop reusable Terraform modules, infrastructure-as-code templates, standardized deployment patterns, and automated provisioning capabilities.
- Build automation scripts, platform services, deployment pipelines, reusable engineering patterns, and operational tooling using PowerShell and Azure-native capabilities.
- Design and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines for infrastructure, platform services, and CI/CD-based deployments.
- Establish Git workflows, branching strategies, pull request practices, code review expectations, release management standards, and quality gates.
- Review Terraform modules, automation scripts, pipelines, and configuration changes for quality, security, maintainability, reliability, and operational readiness.
- Engineer and support capabilities across Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, Azure Synapse Analytics, data governance services, and related data platform technologies.
- Collaborate with architecture, data engineering, cloud engineering, security, infrastructure, operations, and product teams across multiple workstreams.
- Facilitate technical sessions, resolve blockers, coordinate delivery, and communicate risks, dependencies, decisions, progress, and recommendations.
- Improve reliability, resiliency, performance, security, scalability, operational efficiency, and cloud cost management.
- Support monitoring, observability, capacity planning, incident resolution, root cause analysis, disaster recovery, business continuity, access management, networking, and audit activities.
- Create technical documentation, implementation guides, operational runbooks, and knowledge-sharing materials.
- Coach junior and intermediate engineers on engineering practices, reusable patterns, automation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and practical experience may be considered.
- 5–8+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, Application Development, or related disciplines.
- Strong hands-on experience designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions, preferably with Microsoft Azure.
- Strong Terraform experience, including reusable modules, state management, secure deployment patterns, and infrastructure-as-code best practices.
- Advanced PowerShell experience for cloud automation.
- Hands-on Azure DevOps and Git experience, including branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, CI/CD pipeline design, automated testing practices, and release management.
- Experience reviewing engineering deliverables and ensuring quality, security, maintainability, and operational readiness standards.
- Experience supporting cloud-based analytics, data, or AI platforms, preferably Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure-based data platform services.
- Understanding of cloud networking, identity and access management, security, monitoring, observability, disaster recovery, and operational resiliency.
- Ability to drive automation, standardization, cost optimization, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, stakeholder coordination, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Certification or formal training in Azure, cloud engineering, DevOps, Terraform, Databricks, data, business intelligence, data science, machine learning, or AI is an asset.
- Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, or related delivery methodology experience is an asset.
- Retail, data platform, analytics, or enterprise cloud experience is an asset.
